Bachelor’s or higher degree required and must be in related Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing andexecuting communication strategies that support organizational public relations and communications.
The Public Relations Communications Specialists shall develop and distribute communications, including both traditional media and digital platforms.
Manage media relations with various stakeholders.
Formulate public relations strategies that align with organizational goals to improve brand awareness across multiple audiences.
May assist in developing crisis communication strategies to address negative situations and protect the organization's reputation.
The Public Relations Communications Specialist should be multi-disciplined and able to cover multiple major functions and have availability to work outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.
Demonstrate proficiency in writing, strategic communications, media relations, crisis management, event planning, digital and social media.
Proven expertise in developing messaging, digital communication material, working with media, and coordinating events.
Demonstrated ability to craft compelling content, secure high-profile interviews, and consistently perform under tight deadlines, covering a diverse range of topics (e.g., news, health, policy, science). Excellent storytelling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Must be able to work in Washington DC and/or Silver Spring, MD
